After the dedication of Mansfield Dam in 1942, Jonestown was promoted as a haven for weekend fishing and boating. Though a few fishing cabins still remain, large, new homes are being built in every Jonestown neighborhood, many with hill country, lake, or lake-front views.

The Village of Point Venture
Emerging in the 1970’s as a destination for a second home or family vacations. Point Venture has matured into a community of full-time residents from retirees to families with children attending Lago Vista Schools. It features a 9–hole golf course, boating, lake access, and other amenities.
